Alon - I hope your first weekend was great and things are good at the camp. Alissa, nice list. I made Jon Vega read it out loud on an hour drive this morning to Worcester. A couple things stuck out - God prohibited the priests from drinking in service to Him. Apparently it was not a life-time prohibition, but only when they were going to render service (which was likely 5-6 days a week, the 7th being sabbath). Also, if you have a white sore on you somewhere, there are some detailed guidelines to determine if it is leprosy. Do you think some of the priests focused on medical studies? Some did tests for animal fitness for sacrifices? some did animal tests for cleanness? Maybe there were orders within the priesthood where people had passions, maybe not...

There were soooo many rules and regulations and sacrifices. I don't know how they kept them all straight.
ReplyDeleteThey must have had experts. And, this is all that some of them did. I'm sure it became habitual - check the goat for blemish, slice it's neck, spill the blood, offer up parts in fire, send others out of the camp, NEXT!
